As a YMCA-affiliated camp and accredited member of the Ontario Camping Association, RKY Camp meets or exceeds the stringent safety standards set by both organizations.
Our staff are trained to ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone. Whether campers are on the waterfront or on the climbing wall; campers are supervised by staff, 24 hours a day.

Staff Qualifications
All staff have undergone a Criminal Record Check, have received 50+ of training each year, and are certified in Standard First Aid with CPR-C and National Lifeguard at a minimum.
While on the water or on outtrip, there are always lifeguards supervising. All participants are required to wear a personal flotation device whenever outside of the swimming area at RKY Camp.
In case of illness or injury, a volunteer doctor, nurse or wellness coordinator resides on-site each session. If any kind of follow-up is necessary, parents will be contacted immediately.

Camper Privacy Policy
At RKY Camp, policies have been developed that both reinforce federal and provincial legislation, such as the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and help ensure that the freedoms they name are protected at camp. Our camper privacy policy was developed in line with our commitment to upholding the dignity and worth of all persons, and the high value we place on protecting all members of our community from discrimination and harassment. As such, RKY Camp has developed the following policy regarding privacy and the protection of campers in our care.

All campers have a right to privacy, regardless of age. We know that some campers may not be open about all personal information at home for various reasons. Should information be shared by a camper that is protected under legislation, it cannot be disclosed without the consent of that camper.

At times, the information that is shared with us includes a request to accommodate the camper in order to respect their human rights. RKY Camp will take reasonable steps to provide those accommodations. Accommodations are developed on an individual, case-by-case basis, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. There is no age limit on making an accommodation request, and young campers have the same rights to privacy and to have accommodations made on their behalf with or without their parent/guardian/caregiver's knowledge.

For the above reasons, RKY Camp will not disclose private information or information about requests for accommodations to others, including a camper's parents/guardian/caregiver, without the camper's express prior consent.
